Bootcamp says "requires windows 7" in Windows 10

I followed the guides and downloaded the bootcamp support Tools using Bootcamp Assistant and a USB thumb drive.

In Windows i click WindowsSupport\Setup.exe which starts the installer - which then reports it requires Windows 10.

Looking at the Device manager i only see "Bluetooth USB Host Controller" and "Built-in iSight" With a yellow triangle, and would like to update my drivers.

Any suggestions?

iMac, OS X El Capitan (10.11.4), Windows 10

1. What year/model is your Mac? Is it listed as a supported model in Use Windows 10 on your Mac with Boot Camp - Apple Support ?

2. El Capitan should have BC Assistant v6.x which should download W10 drivers. How were this driver packages come obtained?

3. Can you look for a Bootcamp.xml file in your BC Drivers package and post the line that has Product Version? It will look similar to

<?xml version="1.0"?>

<?xml-stylesheet type='text/xml' href='test.xsl'?>

<!--Information on Boot Camp build-->

<BuildInfo BuildNumber="5621"ProductName="Boot Camp">

<MsiInfo>

<ProductManufacturer>Apple Inc.</ProductManufacturer>

<ProductVersion>5.1.5621</ProductVersion>

<ProductCode>{FA2B2C2A-EA41-495A-9308-60726125D562}</ProductCode>

Boot Camp Support Software 4.0.4033 is old and is not certified or validated for W10.

You have two choices,

1. Run the Microsoft generic drivers, or,

2. Install the individual drivers for the unknown devices by hand, with driver computability set to W7 with Administrative rights.
