I recommend you remove the airport utility as well as bonjour for windows..

Reboot the computer and then reinstall them again. There are several reports of the airport utility (well out of date now) failing after an upgrade of windows.

After that it might be purely network issues. Are you getting internet via the AE now??

When properly installed the AirPort Utility for Windows will have two applications listed in the Apps & Features window:

    1. AirPort
    2. Bonjour

    • Move or delete the following file from the C:\Windows\System32 folder: dnssd.dll (Note: This is the Bonjour Client Library and is required by the AirPort Utility. If this file is missing would be one reason you are getting the error message. However, even if present, it may not be properly registered in the Windows Registry. That is, as far as Windows is concerned, it does not exist.
    • Download the AirPort for Windows installer. (Note: This utility has not been updated since Windows 7. It will run on Win7, Win8, Win8.1 & Win10, but will not work with the latest 802.11ac base stations. It should be fine with the 802.11n models, like yours.
    • Run the installer using "Run as administrator" privileges. (Note: If you get the option to Repair or Uninstall, choose Uninstall. Allow the uninstall process to complete. The Bonjour application should now be missing in the Apps & Features listing.
    • If you didn't get the Repair/Uninstall dialog window, then just let the installer install AirPort for Windows in its default folder.

    TY for your help

moving the " dnssd.dll " file and uninstalling and reinstalling worked to get my AE working correctly.. Now if I could just get more speed from Verizon  (it stinks)

by any chance can anyone run through the correct set up for my AE with a fast and slow wifi set up?? I previously through a phone conversation (at least a year or more ago) with Andre @ apple customer support(he's great)had this set up with my old westel 6100 modem, but not sure the setup should be the same. At this point my fast 5 mhz one seems slower than my 2.5 mhz wired one.

I all ready have my GT784WN modem/router from verizon in bridge mode, and I believe they had me set it to transparent so I am no longer able to access it by 192.168.1.1 any longer unless I reset and start over.

but any help would be greatly appreciated (detailed steps please) just so I get it right. Kat
