Q: Can you change what the right and left arrow keys do in iTunes?

Hello hello hello!

So I primarily use the iTunes on my computer for watching TV shows and listening to podcasts. It's sooooo frustrating when I forget that the right and left arrow keys are skip (as in skip to the next item in a playlist) keys and fast forward keys.

Is there any way I can change the right and left arrow keys to be "Skip 10 sec" keys and not skip item keys for iTunes??

Not as far as I know.

You could use the function keys, however, to accomplish something similar. Normally, when you tap on the F9 key, you will skip to the next track. When you tap and briefly hold down on the key, the play head will advance by a few second. Hold it down a bit longer and it will advance in multiple skips. The F7 key behaves the same way, but going backwards.

A certain amount of key function remapping is possible through system preferences > keyboard > shortcuts > App Shortcuts  However, some applications do not allow you to remap functions.  The function also has to be something for which there is a text based item in the menu such as "Copy"
