what's going on?

I just found my shuffle and charged it for two days. I went to use it today I turned it on and it made a dinging noise three times and blinked red three times. It didn't react to me pressing buttons or anything. It played one second of a song then it stopped working. It does that same thing everytime I turn it on now. What's going on?

How long was it "lost"? Lithium batteries can become unable to hold a charge, if it left in a completely discharged state for an extended period.

Does it appear in iTunes when connected? If it does, you should try doing a Restore on the shuffle using iTunes.
