Q: The last backup could not be completed

I've gotten the same error that most of you have gotten regarding my iPhone backup. This error is repeatable and nothing I have tried has worked thus far. I have a Verizon iPhone model ND097LL/A running version 9.3 (13E237).

I've done the following:

(1) Reset my iPhone

(2) Reset my network settings

(3) Deleted by iCloud backup (after selecting show all apps)

(4) After a failed backup, go back into iCloud Manage Storage, show all apps, and deselect EVERY APP just to see I can backup the most basic elements

(5) After a failed backup, reset my iPhone and network settings and try again

(6) Try 3 other different Wi-Fi networks

I can't backup and restore my phone from scratch, because iTunes won't let me create an unencrypted backup. I created an encrypted backup a long time ago (and saved the password in an excel spreadsheet), and now when I try to create an unencrypted backup, iTunes won't let me. It's asking for my encrypted backup password, and the one I wrote down doesn't work.

Does anyone know how to get around this? Maybe I could ask the FBI how they got around this issue so that I can finally back up my iPhone...

When I try to manually back up the iPhone to the iCloud using the cable, I cannot do that either. When I click on "back up" it says "Last Backups: Your iPhone has never been backed up to iCloud. Today 2:25 PM to this computer"

Is there a way I can roll my iPhone back to a pre-OS 9 build so that I can back up and restore my phone? =/ This is ridiculous....

The main issue is that you cannot remember your encrypted backup password.  This being the case, the only way to turn off backup encryption on your device is to erase your iPhone and set it up as new.

You cannot revert to any older iOS build.  Apple does not allow this.

I have the same issue, I had no problems previously but my phone has not been able to back up to iCloud since May 17.  I have tried all the same steps you listed with no success.  I've been manually backing up to my PC whenever I think of it but I would like to get back to the convenience of auto-backups.

    Has anyone found a solution?
