Does Final Cut Pro 7 accept Nikon MOV file format?

I working with a Mac Book Pro with Mountain Lion 10.8 and I just purchased Final Cut Studio 7 and am having trouble with LOG and Transfer feature. I'm trying to load an SD card with movies shot with a Nikon 5100 camera with MOV format and a Video Compression H.264/MPEG-4 Advanced Video Coding and it's not working.

Can anyone help?

Final Cut Pro 7, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8), Mac Book Pro

You need to convert the footage to ProRes 422 first. Use Compressor to do this. And yes, the file size will increase by a factor of 4x or 5x, but that's normal. H.264 is too compressed for FCP 7 to deal with.
