Q: No guest network in bridge mode

I am not able to maintain a guest network on my AEBS. If I use bridge mode on my ADSL modem then the guest network is visible but not able to be joined by any user with or without password. If I try to use bridge mode on my AEBS then I have a double NAT error

The only way that the AEBS can provide a wireless network using the Guest Network feature is if the AirPort is configured to act as a router. That would mean that the router mode on the AirPort must be set to DHCP and NAT.

If this setting produces a Double NAT notice, then your "modem" is also providing DHCP and NAT services.....and the modem will need to be configured in true Bridge Mode to allow the AEBS to operate correctly on the network.

Unfortunately, a number of "modem/routers" cannot be configured to operate in true Bridge Mode operation, so your first task must be to find out if it is possible to set up your modem/router to operate only as a simple modem in Bridge Mode......and if it can bet set up this way......."how" to do it.

If the modem/router was furnished to you by your Internet Service Provider (ISP), then you will need to get with the support folks at your ISP for some answers.

I have the set the Telstra provided Techniolour TG587n v3 to bridge mode but i suspect it is not 'TRUE' bridge mode given it is restricted as you suspected. The Airport Extreme is set to router mode DHCP and NAT but continues to show double NAT error. It seems my only option is to purchase a modem myself so I can configure it in true bridge mode. Any other suggestions would be appreciated and thanks for taking the time to provide the information.

What does Telstra Support say about the option to configure their device to operate only as a simple modem?

I'm not recommending that you run a Double NAT setup on your network, but some users.....on very simple home networks.....can get away with it without too many issues.
