Q: How to move FCP X app from one mac to another?

I purchased FCP X in March of 2013 and have been using it without difficulty ever since. I'm retiring the Mac Pro Tower that I've been using and want to move the FCP app (not libraries or projects) to the newer iMac I just bought.

I originally purchased and downloaded the app from the iTunes Store and I still have the original purchase date, order number and invoice number. Please explain the process for authorizing the new computer and downloading FCP X to it. Thank you!

Mac OS X (10.6.8), Mac Pro

    Hi Tony

FCPX is in the App Store, not iTunes.

Launch the App Store from your new computer (it will be in your dock by default) then you will need to log in using the exact same Apple ID and password you created when you purchased FCPX originally.

Once logged in, click on the "Purchased" tab and you can then re-download anything you have already purchased. You can install any program you have bought on any computer you own and control. IOW you can have apps installed on multiple computers at the same time.

You will want to "de-authorize" your old computer prior to selling so the new owner cannot access your accounts.

    Congratulations on your new computer,

    Hope this helps, Greg
