Apple Music gets charged against gift card credit instead of credit card

wive created the shared account under her apple user id.... added a credit card as the default payment method. Now when daughter gets her Apple Music monthly bill, it goes against the gift card credit under my wife's account and not against the credit card on file.... Any ideas...

Hi Jtriana61,

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities!

I understand that when being charged for Apple Music, the charge is coming from your store credit (gift card) rather than the credit card you have on file.

This is happening because of the way iTunes bills for charges.

Which payment methods are used first?

When you make a purchase, content credits are used first, followed by Gift Certificate, iTunes Card, or Allowance Account credits. The payment method that you have on file is then charged for any remaining balance.

How can we change this to have the option of choosing which form of payment to use? My son received a gift card that he wants to use for apps/games, etc. and I want to pay for his Apple Music on my credit card which is on file NOT have the apple music deduct from his gift card credit.

How quickly can you make this possible? He has 2 months remaining on his free trial. I hope you will be able to resolve this in that time. Otherwise, he will discontinue using Apple Music.
