Eliminate duplicate photos.

Is there a command that will eliminate several duplicated photos in a large file.

Aperture can detect duplicates when you import photos and prevent you from importing them, but once the photos are in the library you are on your own.


You can run utilities to remove duplicates, like Photo Sweeper, but beware of applications,that directly modify the aperture library instead of using Aperture 's interface. That may corrupt your library.

Yes, Aperture is checking for duplicate files and using the file attributes to do this, not the image contents.

if you want to detect duplicate images in different states of edits or different pixel size, with different file creation dates or different file names, try Photo Sweeper. It can compare the contents of photos based on histograms or by comparing pixel maps. It will detect duplicates that are edited versions of the same image file and is pretty good.
