Mar 30, 2016 6:53 AM in response to pcan1109by W. Richard Glendon,The current version of Safari is 9.1. Apple's page about it is here. Maybe the best/only reason to use an earlier version would be if you are using a less recent version of OS X (pre 10.9.5) or an older Mac (pre-Intel processor.) You didn't tell us any of this in your question.

You're right of course but Thresher-The-Shark in MacUpdate comments reported these download sites in comments about Safari
"Updated direct download URLs for versions released on 2016-03-21.
Safari 9.1 for OS X 10.9 Mavericks:
Safari 9.1 for OS X 10.10 Yosemite:
Safari 9.1 for OS X 10.11 El Capitan is included with the 10.11.4 update:

I tried the Mavericks URL. It worked.

Mar 30, 2016 8:10 AM in response to pcan1109by FoxFifth,Safari version 6.1.6 is the latest version that will run on OS X 10.7 (Lion). If you cannot or do not want to upgrade OS X, another option would be to download Firefox and use it instead of Safari. https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/

Mar 30, 2016 3:57 PM in response to W. Richard Glendonby pcan1109,Yes, the reason I never upgraded from Lion to a newer OsX is because I do have an older MacBook (5 yrs. old) for fear of losing pictures, slower running, etc. but it's getting to the point where I must upgrade since some sites I use no longer support current version of Safari I am using.

Mar 30, 2016 4:01 PM in response to W. Richard Glendonby pcan1109,Must I download all previous version of the OsX before downloading El Capitan? How will any of these effect my MacBook?

Mar 30, 2016 4:05 PM in response to pcan1109by Allan Eckert,No. In fact you can't download all previous versions.
If you have sufficient RAM, 4 GB or greater, your MacBook should run fine.
