I can only hear out of one ear of my apple EarPods

these EarPods came with my brothers iPod touch around a year ago, and for about a month I've noticed I can only really hear out of ear (one is fairly muffled- the right one). I know it's not my hearing after having perfect hearing tests for a reason other than this. I've tried that thing where the sound may be balanced to one side, even putting it to the right side mostly with the left side being just as loud as the right side even then. It's not just my phone because I've tried them with my iPad too. I've also cleared them, which made little difference. Are they done for now? P.S. They aren't the ones with the remote. They came with 5th gen iPod touch so whatever earpods come with them
