I keep getting an alert saying that Safari and Google Chrome will no longer be a supporting browser for my OS X Lion 10.7.5. What do I have to do now in order to keep up?

I have a Mid 2011 iMac Desktop computer. I keep getting an alert saying that Safari and Google Chrome will no longer be a supporting browser for my OS X Lion 10.7.5. What do I have to do now in order to keep up? I'm not real good at this, so please if there are any questions, please just ask. Thank you.

You have to download 10.11 via the App store. It should come up on the main page or you can search for it. You just download and install. You should check your programs to make sure they are compatible and update if necessary. Check that your printer is compatible and update if needed. These pages are full of members not checking first that the software they use will work. They end up blaming everyone but themselves.

don't jump off the bridge because your browser told you so. There is no shortage of horror stories on these forums from people who rushed into an upgrade and found their favorite piece of software or scanner or printer no longer functions. There is a burden of research that should be done before you rush into this.

before you do ANYTHING back up your drive NOW. In the event you wreck your digital lifestyle you can roll back to an instance where things worked.

Hi Duane:

I apologize for not responding sooner, but I've been trying to get this to download all day. It goes just a little while then stops and puts up the box that says to either cancel or retry. I've retried it several times and it still isn't working. I've closed out of Safari and tried it, and to no avail. Is there something else I can do?

Thank you again
