Q: Errors in "Identify your iPod model" document
This is not a "question"... I often answer questions here, and when the user asking the question does not provide a clear identification of iPod model (and it's relevant for the question), I link to this document to help identify it
Identify your iPod model - Apple Support
However, for this forum category (Older iPods), this document is currently flawed in several ways, and not as helpful as it could be. In fact, it is confusing. I usually end up using this non-Apple reference instead, for Older iPods

Here are the errors and possible points of improvements:
- The picture for "iPod (Click Wheel)," which is more commonly called a 4th gen iPod (monochrome), is completely wrong. The iPod pictured there is a 3rd gen iPod, which is called "iPod (Dock Connector)" in the document.
- There is no picture for "iPod photo," which is confusing because every other section has a separate iPod picture.
- The picture for "iPod with color display," which is more commonly called 4th gen iPod (color), is not a photo (like the others) but a mockup. That's fine, but it looks like a white 5th gen iPod, not a 4th gen iPod. On a 4th gen iPod, its screen is proportionally smaller and click wheel is proportionally larger. Confusing for someone trying to figure out their iPod model.
- I think it would also be helpful to people (with Older iPods) using this document, if the 1st through 4th gen iPods referenced those more commonly used "generation" names, not iPod, iPod (scroll wheel), iPod (touch wheel), iPod (dock connector), iPod (click wheel), iPod photo, and iPod with color display. Like the next "classic" iPod on the list, which is called "iPod (5th generation)—also known as iPod with video or Fifth Generation iPod"; that label is VERY clear.
If the moderator can forward this feedback (as appropriate), I'd appreciate it.
