Apple Software Updater is not able to contact the Apple Software Update Server

Since updating itunes to 12.3.3 on Mar 26, 2016 I suddely face the issue that " the Apple Software Updater could not find the Apple Software Update Server". I get that error message when explicitely triggering ASU.

The issue seems to be solely related to the itunes software update

itunes can continually access the Stores for apps and music
I can update my Apple devices via itunes
No other applications on my PC face network issues

I already underwent the following steps of analysis:

Repaired ASU via Windows 'Programs and Features'
de- and re-installed itunes
de-activated my antivirus program
de-installed my antivirus program

No change to the problem with ASU

My environment is Win10 Pro latest build, itunes 12.3.3.17 64bit

iPhone 6, iOS 9.3

Many users have encountered problems updating their devices, activating them or signing it to their account after iOS 9.3 update. Apple is aware of the problem and is working on a fix.

Thanks for your response and advice.

Please be aware that my issue is NOT related to updating my Apple devices. Device update via itunes still works.

The issue is only related to the Apple Software Updater (ASU) program on my itunes host PC. I cannot update itunes itself!

I recognized in the meantime that many other users do have the same issue. It will be interesting how Apple wants to fix this as they can't ship updates through ASU at this point.
