Q: iPhoto library gone and all photos gone?

I Had just opened iPhoto on my MacBook and gone through deleting photos that I didn't want anymore in preparation to move them over to the Photos App.

I emptied my trash on my desktop during this time and since then my iPhoto library has been missing as well as all the photos.

I Don't quite understand seeing as I didn't delete anything linked directly to iPhoto yet the entire app refuses to open at all due to the library not existing anymore.

If anyone has any ideas or solutions, it would be very appreciated.

    Sounds like you deleted your iPhoto library by mistake - this is why you have backups - restore your backup from before you did this

     

    and once you have your library back these may help you prepare to upgrade

    If the library didn't exist it would ask you where it is or to create a new one.

     

    There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 10 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Include things like:

     

    - What version of iPhoto.

     

    - What version of the Operating System.

     

    - Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For example, if you have a problem with exporting, then explain by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.

     

    - History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted? - Are there error messages?

     

    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.

     

    - Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?

     

    Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.
