Skype chat history- iCloud Backup

Hello Everyone,

I have recently purchased iPhone 6S and set it up with iCloud backup from my iPhone 6. Most of the apps and data are seamlessly synced and downloaded on my new iPhone. I installed Skype but the chat history (as on my old iPhone) doesn't show up on iPhone 6S. I was under the impression that iCloud backups all the app related data and documents and restoring from iCloud backup, restores all the data on your new phone. Am I wrong to assume that?

Could one of you clarify what exactly iCloud backup does. Is there any way I can get all my Skype chat history on the new iPhone?

Any help will be appreciated. Thank you

yes icloud backup ideally contains info, but in some apps data is also protected by login on respective app server and if server is not detecting trusted device it may or may not allow that data to be downloaded. In that case it is Skype's attempt to protect your account. How to overcome that I do not know and if you d like you may try to contact Skype support.

Thank you for your reply. I checked with Skype support and they said that all the devices have different cloud backups which is irrelevant in this case as I am using syncing from old phone. Ideally, all the files and data should be copied as it but not in my case.

Is there any way I can access the main.db file on my old phone and at least copy it somewhere for future reference? I must say, of all the apps Skype is very strange.

You are welcome If you had itunes backup, there are programs that allow to dissect those and many of them, mostly none of them free.

If we are talking about icloud backup it is located on Apple servers and there is no chance Apple will allow you to do that.

However there are programs to download those backup to computer as well, they just more expensive then first group.

I remember one of the guys mention name of one, but that was two years back, can't think of it now. Good luck with your
