Safari update for lion

I Have lion and when using safari websites tell me I need to upgrade Safari. When I check my software updates it tells me I have the latest version of Safari but I don't. Can I get the latest Safari without upgrading OSX?

Safari 9 requires at least Mavericks; if desired, switch to a product such as Firefox instead.

I Don't like Firefox or other browsers. So I am stuck with the old Safari if I don't upgrade my whole system?
