Q: How do I remove Malware/Hackware?

I'm SCARED! Just went to a legitimate artist website, clicked on a link to view an artist work, and suddenly got hit with a popup window telling me my mac computer has been targeted with Cryptolocker virus. How do I find out if my files are being encrypted to avoid having to pay money to decrypt considering this is a hackware.

Any help greatly appreciated.

It is not a Mac virus. Windows only. You are not infected with anything other than the pop-up.

Fixes for Adware and Pop-ups:

Malwarebytes
DetectX 2.11
Remove adware that displays pop-up ads and graphics on your Mac
Stop pop-up ads and adware in Safari - Apple Support

*I prefer FF w/ P.U.K., but I still get the "alarm bells' every once in a while (it works by me adding URL strings to a comma de-limited list as they occur)
