mouse light comes on for 3 seconds and goes off then blinks with 2 blinks on then off

Question

mouse light comes on for 3 seconds and goes off then blinks with 2 blinks on then off

I've changed the batteries and when I turn it on the light comes on for 3 seconds , then off and blinks twice the off then blinks twice for a minute(?) an dgoes off permanately. What's wrong?

MacBook Pro, OS X El Capitan (10.11.3)

I have had this occur also. I put in a second set of new batteries, and the problem corrected. It could be that your new batteries were defective. Report this to the battery manufacturer. They will replace.
