Q: How do you install plugins on Aperture

My plugins I want to use show up on the photos menu but are faded and I can't click on them .

iPhone 6, iOS 5.0.1, Brother printer MCC-J835dw

Are they Aperture plugins, or other general Photos plugins (which may not support Aperture).

i.e. I know the NIK plugins work OK in Aperture, but many newer ones (and pretty much every one sold via the Mac App Store today), will not.
