Imessage typing bubble not shown

I Recently purchased an iphone 6. I had an iphone 5 but couldnt use my backup because i had to make a new apple id. Anyways yeah im not sure if this is a glitch cause i was with a friend and when i typed he couldnt see my bubble and when he types there is no typing bubble. How do i fix this?
