Q: iTunes extras availability

I Just bought Star Wars: The Force Awakens on April 1st, today. I bought the HD version with ITunes extras, which happens to be the only version available today. The SD version becomes available on April 5th. I am using the larger IPad Pro. When I load the movie, ITunes extras does not show up on the bottom of the screen like it normally would. This is despite the fact that I am hooked up to a strong wifi signal at home. I am able to access other ITunes movies with their extras without a problem.

The truth is that I have noticed a delay between the release of the movie and it's iTunes extras with iTunes before.  This has happened with other movies that were released early on iTunes before the Blursy release. I want to know if this is official policy to delay the iTunes extras until the blu Ray release. If so, why isn't it mentioned on ITunes? From the iTunes Store, it appears that I get access to Itunes extras the same as I would the movie, other than the fact that I have to be able to access wifi. Why doesn't the store mention this point? It seems to be dishonest advertising. If I am buying the movie early at ITunes, it just may be that I am doing so to see the extras as soon as possible. After all, if I am an early purchaser, I am probably a fan who has already seen the movie. Perhaps, I bought the movie to see the deleted scenes and documentary aspects of the extras. Making me wait until the Bluray is released strips away my reason for getting the movie early, specially considering the Blursy edition has a better quality picture.

I Have asked ITunes support, and they don't know about this. Have any of you noticed this delay between the release of the movie and it's extras on iTunes?

iPad Pro, iOS 9.3

I was having the same problem with the same movie. When I restarted my phone it fixed the issue. Hopefully that works for you, too.

I am having the same issue. No extras option on iPad Pro. When I watch on Apple TV the extras are available though. Tried the usual things, turn off and on, checked the movie in the iTunes Store to see if extras could be accessed via that page etc, to no avail. Strong wifi connection, everything else works.

I Don't know how it fixed, but it did fix later during the day I originally posted. So, clearly the extras were not being held back for the Blu-Ray release. So, I owe apple an apology for that. I still am not getting consistent playback, but Based on other reviews of the ITunes extras playback on the iPad, my experience is not new.

Problem solved. The extras menu only appears if you hold the iPad in landscape mode. I had mine in portrait mode with orientation locked, hadn't bothered to turn it. Not sure why the menu wouldn't appear for both orientations though.

Opened a ticket with Apple, but properly ****** off right now.
