Q: Recovery mode-apple id tied?

Im selling my MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Mid 2014) to a friend and I want to do a complete factory reset. Upon reading about it, I found if I do it via recovery mode then my apple Id will be "ied to the laptop and my friend won't be able to download any future updates from the apple store, is this true?
