Problem booting movies on Mac Mini

I watch commercial movies on my Mac Mini using a MacBook Air superdrive. But some movies will not boot up. Can anyone answer what I can do to solve this problem?

Mac mini, OS X Mavericks (10.9.5)

What do you mean by not boot up?

Do they appear in Finder but will not play?

Are they pressed? As opposed to burned?

These are commercial movies that I rent from the video store. I load them into the superdrive but they won't load but just eject. This only happens with some movies.

Try cleaning the optical drive and the disks themselves

First try using a DVD/CD cleaning disk.

Next if necessary

How to clean a DVD Superdrive using a credit card !

If still problem then the problem disks are either scratched or damaged enough so as not be readable.
