Q: Photo Events

Can someone please explain to me (simple terms). When I open the photos app on my Mac Book Pro there are a list of items, the one I have in question is under the "iPhoto Events. I can see dates with photos, but then there is some that have just a "s" or "m" what are these? Little frustrated with trying to organize my photos then when a big software update comes along I have to start all over again. Any suggestions on a software to purchase where you can organize them once?

Thank You in advance.

There are no events in Photos - your iPhoto events were converted to albums and stored in an folder named iPhoto events  --  How Photos handles content and metadata from iPhoto and Aperture - Apple Support

and all of your albums were brought over as were smart albums (to the extent that their criteria is supported in PHotos so all of your iPhoto organization has been moved to Photos -what specifically are you having an issue with or missing?

Missing a bunch of photos.... I just happen to find them on an external hard drive. I'm afraid if I move the photos over from the External HD I might get duplicate photos, which before the El Capitan update I had anywhere from 2-4 duplicate copies of some photos. I went from 11,000+ photos to about 6,000+ photos since the update. Which I'm sure it was because of the duplicates. The Folder named iPhoto Events there are event's with just a letter "a" and "s" I was wondering what does that mean. Not sure how to add it to show you what I'm talking about. I just want to have my photos all organized in folder to make it easier to find them when I looking for something in particular. If I'm not able to do this within the photos I would like to purchase a photos software program to do that, but not sure what would be the best. I off to read the article on how photos handle content and metadata from iPhoto and Aperture.

    Thanks again,
