Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
If I understand correctly, there's an issue logging into iCloud accounts on your iPod touch. The article below provides general troubleshooting tips that should help you resolve the issues with the Apple IDs that you're using with iCloud on your iOS device.

Also, you may want to consider using just one Apple ID as suggested here:
If you forgot your Apple ID - Apple Support
As a reminder, you only need one Apple ID. Using multiple Apple IDs might be confusing when you access purchased content or use Apple services.
Cheers.

Apr 3, 2016 8:55 AM in response to Jason Lby Chrsey,Thanks so much for your response! I did eventually get logged in to the account on my ipod which is the same one as on my son's ipad. I would like to get rid of the other Apple ID account, do you have an idea how I would go about this?

I'm happy to hear that you were able to resolve the issue logging into the iCloud account. It sounds like you want to know how to delete one of the Apple IDs or merge the two accounts. The Apple ID can't be deleted, but you use it with Family Sharing to share content between your son's devices and your devices, as described here:

Use different Apple IDs for iCloud and iTunes
We recommend that you use the same Apple ID for all Apple services on your device—including the iTunes & App Stores and iCloud. Using multiple Apple IDs might be confusing and cause issues with accessing purchased content or using some services. If you have multiple Apple IDs, you can’t merge them.
But if you already have different Apple IDs that you want to use with iCloud and the iTunes & App Stores, you can still get all the benefits your Apple ID has to offer.
- On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, go to Settings > iCloud and sign in with the Apple ID that you want to use with iCloud. Go back to Settings > iTunes & App Stores and sign in with the Apple ID that you want to use with iTunes.
- On your Mac, go to System Preferences > iCloud and sign in with the Apple ID that you want to use with iCloud. Go to iTunes >
Sign In and sign in with the Apple ID that you want to use with iTunes.
If you use multiple Apple IDs and want to restore your device from a backup, you can learn more about iCloud or iTunes backups.

If you want to share your Apple services with a family member, you can set up Family Sharing. With Family Sharing, it’s easy for up to six people to share each other’s iTunes, iBooks, and App Store purchases without sharing accounts.
If you need to change your Apple ID account information, we can help you update your username, password, payment information, birthdate, and more.
You can also get help if you forgot your Apple ID or your Apple ID password.
Take care.
