MAIL CRASH Since installing iOS9.3 on iPhone 6 Plus mail crashes on opening. Problem persists since installing 9.3.1.

Since I installed iOS 9.3 on my iPhone 6 Plus, the mail crashes on opening. When I double click the home button mail appears to be running in the background but still doesn't open when selected - crashes immediately. I have just updated to 9.3.1 but it has not fixed the problem. Any ideas?

Hello RonBearparkville,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities.

If I understand correctly, the Mail app is quitting unexpectedly on your iPhone 6s since updating iOS. Try taking a look at the article below and running through the general app troubleshooting tips below.

If an app you installed unexpectedly quits, stops responding, or won’t open - Apple Support

If the issue persists, try restoring your iPhone as described here:

Try resetting your Mail Account. First close your Mail App completely from the multitasking window by double clicking the Home button and swiping up the Mail preview pane up until it disappears from the screen. You may have to look for the Mail pane by scrawling to the left. Then go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > locate your email provider and click on the account. On the next page Delete Account. Then do a forced restart. Hold down the Home and Wake/Sleep buttons at the same time for about 15-20 seconds until the Apple logo appears. You will not lose anything. Then go back to Settings > Mail… and add the account again.
