Since you have a Retina display, do you have Use full resolution for Retina Display checked in Settings>Display?

Also, the current version of Fusion is 8.1.

In the view menu have you tried selecting Full Screen? If that takes care of the black edges, open Display>Screen Resolution in the Control Panel within Windows and see what the current resolution is. Then go back to Fusion's View>Single Window and see if that resolution is still available in Windows Display resolution preferences.

Also, in Fusion Display preferences, have you tried changing the settings for Scaled high resolution?

Note that the resolution options offered by Windows may not match up with the shape of your Mac's screen.

but i couldn't find this in vmware settings

In the Fusion>Settings>Isolation panel, do you have both Enable Drag and Drop and Enable Copy and Paste checked? If not, check them both. Then you should be able to either drag the file from the Mac's Desktop to the Windows Desktop or, if you copy the file in the Mac, select the Windows Desktop (or the open Windows folder you want to put the file in) and then right click; you should get a list of choices including Paste. Note that that's supported by VMware Tools having been installed (which is usually automatic) and then loaded after you start the Virtual Machine. You can see that happening as Windows starts up when the little VM icon appears along the bottom right section of the Task Bar. If it hasn't appeared yet, dragging or pasting may not yet work.
