How long is too long? If it has been going on for more than a few hours - and even that is too long IMHO - then something is wrong. Quite the backup, because it is not going to complete anyway if its been that long, force restart the device and try again.

To force restart your device, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least ten seconds, until you see the Apple logo.

This may not work either. The backup may be corrupt and you might have to delete it and start again. However, its an easy starting point and it will not hurt anything. If the backup will not complete, there is nothing to lose.

    Hello Demo,

I have the exact problem with ICloud back up on both my IPad Air as well as my 6Plus. I just bought a 6s which I am unable to restore as this back up is still incomplete despite a time lapse of 12 hours. I have additional storage & all other requirements on point. This has always been an issue Icloud back up with all previous devices.

Did you try my suggestions? iCloud back ups can be very fussy for some users. I had problems getting iCloud backups to work when iOS 9 was first installed on my devices. I just plugging away deleting backups, turning off Find My iPhone, signing out of iCloud, restarting, force restarting and so on.

Take a look at this and see if anything in here helps
