Q: app store missing
Hello everyone, i've got a couple of problems with a newly purchased 4th Gen Apple tv. The first is that after installation, the App store doesn't appear, just Movies, TV and Music. I've reset and updated it, the same problem exists. I tried to connect the apple tv box to my mac, but the port for the lightning cable doesn't fit, the port hole has a straight line protrusion, its not an empty rectangular port for the cable to slot into. Its a bit like the cdmi port underneath, where a thin rectangular but of plastic runs parallel to the length of the port hole. So the lightning cable won't fit, the hole is too big and the protrusion steps it going in any further. Any ideas anyone?

That is weird, I have never heard of the App Store app not being visible after starting the ATV. The lightning cable is used to charge the Siri remote only. there is zero functionality if you connect the cable to the ATV device. In order to connect the ATV to your Mac you would need a USB-C cable. (purchased separately) Restore your Apple TV through iTunes - Apple Support
honestly, if you just bought it I would consider exchanging at the point of sale
