MY iTunes is not working very well. I think it is not compatible with my computer. I have old computers that still use Windows vista. Does any one know which iTunes version is the best to use with vista. And can I uninstall the current iTunes without loosing anything and download the correct version. Thanks Sam

Hello Sam, I also have a Vista PC and I know what you mean about iTunes. If you need to support an Apple mobile device running iOS 9, then I'm afraid you are stuck with iTunes version 12.1.3 mentioned by Niel - and beware of iOS 10 come September because it will most likely be impossible to support from Vista. (The new iPhone SE may already be impossible to support.) But if no iOS device is chaining you to to the upgrade cycle and you just use iTunes for playback software, then the most recent version that worked properly on Vista was 11.1.5, which is now more than two years old. I wish I could tell you that downgrading iTunes is easy, but the average iTunes user finds it to be quite difficult. I Forgot to meant ion I have an iPod 1st or 2nd gen with the version 6.1.6 Also How do I backup iTunes if it does not work for me? If it helps I also have an iPhone 6 with the newest software.
Drag-copy the iTunes library to an external drive; this is done outside of iTunes.

Well you would not be able to back up or sync that device using any iTunes version that I could recommend for Vista. Version 12.1.3 is the only hope as was previously mentioned. Apple ended support for Vista with the release of iTunes 12.2.0 on June 30, 2015, by which time iTunes had already been causing problems for Vista users for more than a year. There have now been seven versions that cannot be installed on Vista, the latest of which is 12.3.3.17. If you need to support an iPhone 6 (especially beyond September 2016), then Vista is clearly the wrong platform - nor can I recommend another platform because Apple's bloatware doesn't seem to work properly for anyone these days.
