Bluetooth Headphones iPod 5th Gen

I have a 5th Generation iPod Touch. I recently bought these wireless headphones: http://iliveelectronics.com/help-center/bluetooth-quality-stereo-headphones.html

I tried to pair the headphones with my iPod, but the iPod isn't finding them. I looked up and carefully followed the instructions for both the headphones and iPod to pair them. The iPod just searches and searches.

I've found other discussions that suggest there are compatibility issues between iPod Touch and headphones meant to work with smartphones. It looks like this might have something to do with call-answering features in the headphones and iPod not being a phone (I only saw this in one forum, so I don't understand it well).

Please help. How can you tell if a set of wireless headphones will work with iPod or not? I don't want to buy 10 different sets just to test 'em and return 'em. And these ones say right on the box that they're compatible with iPod.

Do you know which headphones do work? (I know this question has been asked and answered before, but I can't find any answers post-2011 and product lines change).

I've checked Apple's Accessories section, but they are selling Beats and Bose headphones. I don't need/want anything that expensive. These $40 headphones would work great. You know, if they worked.

Those should work fine.

Are there any other devices with bluetooth range that that headphones may be trying to pair with? Make sure those are off.

Have the headphones been paired to another device?

If so unpair them

Do you know if the headphones work with another device?

- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

- Reset the headphones

.- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings

- Restore from backup. See:

iOS: How to back up

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
