Macbook Pro running the latest version of El Capitan 10.11.4 A pop-up window appeared called 'macserialjunkie.com' . I fear this is some kind of malware. I shutdown Safari but don't know how to proceed. Any help?
MacBook Pro (17-inch Mid 2010), Mac OS X (10.7.3)
Safari - Preferences - Advanced
Check the Develop box
Develop - Empty cache
Disable or delete any safari extensions
Reboot the computer
If the problem persists - download MalwareBytes and use that to scan your computer

The latest version is 10.11.6. Keeping OS X updated is the most effective way to maintain its security. Read Update the software on your Mac - Apple Support.
It's just a common scam. Visiting a scam website rarely has anything to do with malware.
