Q: No, my problem is NOT solved: still can't sync some photos to iPad Pro from iMac

I posted this question yesterday, and after one response (which was not helpful, though I do appreciate Rudegar's having tried to help me), mysteriously my question was marked as "Solved" in the list of questions, so it's unlikely that more people will look at that thread. I can't figure out how to remove that "Solved" label, so I'm posting my question again.

I'm trying to sync selected photos from my iMac (running Mavericks 10.9.5) to my new iPad Pro (12.9 inch model, updated to iOS 9.3.1). I connect the iPad to the iMac, fire up iTunes (version 12.3.3.17, it says), select the iPad in iTumes and then the "Photos" tab over on the left. On the right I choose "Selected Folders," and in the "Folders" window below that I check the boxes for the folders that I want and click on "Apply" if it's there or "Sync" if that's the only option showing.

Every time, a few photos refuse to move over to the iPad. It's always the same ones, but I can't find any common characteristic (e. g., wrong extension or huge file size) that would explain why those photos won't go while everything else will. Typically in a folder with 20 photos, between 15 and 20 will move over to the iPad. But why won't the rest? This is really bugging me. I've tried unplugging and replugging the iPad, turning it off and on, quitting and restarting iTunes, and even putting the ones that won't sync into a special folder all of their own. No luck.

Can anybody help me out?

iPad Pro, iOS 9.3.1

Hi there - no still no fix. I am in contact on and off with a Level 2 Tech from Apple who seems very interested to help me (us!) resolve the problem.

He has taken over my computer and the latest was yet another Data Capture to see where the problem may lie between the iPad Pro and my Mac - time consuming for me, but I hope that it may lead to a solution!

Synced my photos perfectly to my old iPad, but as in the video above (although I just choose my photos/albums directly from Photos option in iTunes menu there) I have the same problem as this - as originally mentioned by me in this post a few weeks back.

I will be in touch if I hear of a solution!

No fix here either sadly.  It has become VERY frustrating and really means I cannot use my new iPad Pro.  I have reverted to using my old iPad, to which iTunes successfully syncs all the photos I need from iPhoto. This is really poor by Apple.  I have yet again pointed them in the direction of this and other threads, all discussing the same problem, yet they don't appear to be that concerned about it. The only solution I have had from them so far is to try using Photos instead of iPhoto, and use their iCloud Photo Library so that all photos appear on every device.  That's not really a solution - it should work for proper syncing.  I can get my photos onto the new iPad via Photostream, but of course I then have to create separate Photostream albums, mirroring those in iPhoto.

It looks as though the new version of iTunes 12.4 released yesterday may have solved this syncing photos problem.  From first glance it now looks as though all my missing photos have synced across to my iPad Pro from iPhoto, via an iTunes sync.  However I have heard reports of the new iOS version 9.3.2 actually bricking the smaller iPad Pros, so I wouldn't advise installing that yet.  On the bright side, Apple listened and the syncing problem certainly seems to have sorted here anyway!

FINALLY!  Yes, I updated the OS on my iPad Pro 9.7 and on the my computer (which updated iTunes).  I was then able to sync all of photos over to my iPad Pro. First, I updated just the iPad and attempted syncing, but this did not resolve the problem.  You must update both the iPad and iTunes.  Hope it fixes the syncing issues for everyone!

Hello Matthew - I've managed to get the iPad Pro to sync all requested photos just by updating iTunes to the new 12.4 version.  I haven't updated my iPad Pro iOS yet, but it's working just fine now without updating that.  So it appears that the answer is in the iTunes coding somewhere.  Relief!

One more suggestion to try would be to see if these same photos run into an issue if uploaded into your iCloud Photo Library directly through iCloud.com. It seems 12.4 is solving this for others from what I am reading elsewhere as well as Caroline's most recent post.

The only person who had the ability to mark the post was you, so the question is why mark it as solved when it is not?

I upgraded to iTunes 12.4, then I deleted iPod photo cache in the iPhoto library just to start from a clean slate, then connected my 12.9" iPad Pro and upgraded it to iOS 9.3.2. Now all my photos sync without issue. Phew!

Thanks for your posts - Finally a solution! So glad we now have this issue resolved, and hoping that our combined hours of phone interaction were not in vain in helping to resolve this issue with the engineers!
