What formats will iTunes import?
Trying to import files in the FLAC format, iTunes doesn't seem to like them.
What do I need to do?

Use a 3rd party utility to convert FLAC to a format that's compatible with iTunes - ALAC to retain lossless audio, MP3 or AAC otherwise. I use Foobar 2000 for this purpose.
