Q: Updating Apple Software Update without updating iTunes
I've been trying to update the Apple Software Update for Windows (from 2.1.3 to 2.1.4) for a while now and I keep getting error messages. It says "errors occurred..." (nice and specific) but no more details apart from that.
I've read updating iTunes might fix it but I really don't want to update iTunes. I have version 12.1.2.27 and I'm pretty happy with it and all the changes that came in later versions with the integration of all the new stuff I think are horrible so there's no way I'm updating.
Is there a stand-alone downloader/installer for Apple Software Update that doesn't require having to go through iTunes update?ks
Thanks!

I'm not aware of a standalone installer for Apple Software Update. See Install missing components. You could download the current version of iTunes, extract the ASU component and install it on its own. It may require an updated version of Apple Application Support. I don't know if updating that would upset iTunes. See the rest of the user tip for further advice. My recommendation would normally be that you install the current to take advantage of security patches and bug fixes. That said a few people are finding 12.3.2 slightly more stable than 12.3.3.
