I have iMessage read receipts switched on, and so does my friend. When they first read my iMessage it shows me the time read receipt, however after a while if they don't reply the receipt disappears and the iMesssage goes back to saying 'delievered' underneath - can anyone tell me why this is? this same issue has always happened with me as well. before, i thought there was some way that if you turn your receipts off on your end after reading a message, hat it will show the message as delivered on the other persons phone. i also happened to have trust issues with the one person i noticed this with, and it made me think they were purposely trying to change the status of the message so that i would not know they saw it. but this is in fact an issue with the software

When you send an iMessage it will differ from Delivered or Read depending on what setting you have on to send and receive iMessages?
For me I have "read" so that people know I have read there iMessage, however if they read your iMessage and dont have "Read" then it will stay as delivered if they want it to as its there setting.

No what I mean is, at first when they read my message it will show me the read receipt with the time they read it. However after an hour or so the read receipt didappears and it just says 'delivered'.

I'm having the same issue. It popped up after the 9.3 upgrade.
It shows a message as read and then when I close the text and open it back up, the read receipt has moved up to the previous message and the most recent (which has already been read) now says "delivered"
My friends and I tested it sitting next to each other and it's happening to all of us.
i have logged it with apple and they have been working on it with me today but still no fix at this time , it's right pain as can not tell if been seen or not lol
I'm having this issue too. I've noticed it when I told there was a new update and this is rather annoying. Can we please get help on getting this fixed

I have been having the same issue and didn't realize it. I had a text message I sent, it said "Read" with the timestamp, and a few minutes later, it changed to "Delivered". I thought I was going crazy. When I looked at the same message on iMessages on my MacBook Air, it said "Read" with the timestamp. I read this post, shut my iPhone 6 off with iOS 9.3.2, turned my iPhone back on and the "Read" receipt with timestamp now shows in iMessage on my phone.
