Hi morgalily,

An 'eraser' applies only to bit map ('Paint') images. Images created in Numbers are vector drawings, not 'paint' images. The individual shapes making up the drawing may be deleted, have their proportions (aspect ratio) changed, or if drawn with the 'pen' tool, may have their shapes edited, but they cannot be partially erased.

The image shows a rectangle (square) shape inserted from the Shapes button menu. This 'fixed' shape has a limited set of manipulations that can be applied to change its size, width to height ratio, line and fill colours and orientation. The lower shape consists of two rectangles, butted together. The border line can be set to none, but cannot be partially erased to eliminate the vertical line where the two shapes come together.

The shape in the upper right is drawn using the pen tool on the Shape button menu. It was duplicated, then edited to produce the revised shape below. Shape editing is done by option clicking on the shape's boundary to add a new control point, then dragging the control point to a new location. Three such control points were added to this shape and moved to produce the new shape.

While making a floor plan is possible, it is not the easiest of tasks to do accurately in Numbers. Examples above produced in Numbers '09.

Regards,

Barry
