iOS 9.3.1 has corrupted iBooks

I installed iOS 9.3.1 over 9.3.0 on my iPad 3/4 (128Gb WiFi-Cellular).

iBooks 4.7 was fine prior to the update, with various sub folders containing books by author and PDF categories. After the upgrade, all the sub folders are gone. I searched for an author, selected all the books in the search results and tried to move them to a new folder. The folder created, however none of the books moved are visible in that new folder. When iBooks is closed and reopened it just sits with the busy icon revolving in the top right hand corner.

Are you force closing iBooks or just minimizing it and allowing it to sit in the multitasking display? If you are not closing the app completely, try that and then force restart.

Press the Home button two times quickly. You'll see small previews of your recently used apps. Swipe to find iBooks. Swipe up on the app's preview to close it.

To force restart your device, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least ten seconds, until you see the Apple logo.

Hey Demo,

Thanks for the response.

I shut iBooks down completely (click, click, give it the flick). I have forced a restart, as per your info. I have shut the iPad down (Powered off) and restarted it, all to no avail.

I have given up, and have optioned to remove all 12600 books, restore the device to factory, and start again. Based on my previous experience this, while it takes a long time to rebuild, is the only way to resolve issues with iOSxx.

I experienced the same problem and hope a fix is forthcoming. I'm reluctant to upgrade in the future since they don't appear to be thoroughly test-run before release.

If there should be a limit to the amount of books loaded in iBooks then this should have been tested with boundary testing and the limit set.

Seeing this obviously wasn't done, if the software allows you to do it, then its valid and should function correctly.

It just wasn't tested at all which is pretty disappointing.

I had to revert back to iOS 9.2.1 on my iPad Mini because iBooks got hosed when I upgraded to 9.3.1

Rebooted device, tried everything. Mucho sucko experience. Spinning wheel icon for hours.

Very frustrating because I only got the iPad Mini to read books.

I had a backup. I use SuperDuper for backups because Time Machine is not as reliable as I would like.

It's beginning to seem like a good idea to make an individual LOCAL backup before installing any updates.

Not an iCloud backup. Don't get me started on iCloud.

AAAAARGH!!!! Why did I install?!!! I thought this was a minor update and now my +2K books with > 150 divisions IS GONE!

Forgive me internet gods, for I have sinned. I freakin' installed another Apple upgrade trusting that their iBooks wouldn't be further messed up.

I Really, really hate me some Apple right now.
