iOS 9.3.1 has corrupted iBooks

I installed iOS 9.3.1 over 9.3.0 on my iPad 3/4 (128Gb WiFi-Cellular).

iBooks 4.7 was fine prior to the update, with various sub folders containing books by author and PDF categories. After the upgrade, all the sub folders are gone. I searched for an author, selected all the books in the search results and tried to move them to a new folder. The folder created, however none of the books moved are visible in that new folder. When iBooks is closed and reopened it just sits with the busy icon revolving in the top right hand corner.

Are you force closing iBooks or just minimizing it and allowing it to sit in the multitasking display? If you are not closing the app completely, try that and then force restart.


Press the Home button two times quickly. You'll see small previews of your recently used apps. Swipe to find iBooks. Swipe up on the app's preview to close it.


To force restart your device, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least ten seconds, until you see the Apple logo.

Thanks for the response.

I shut iBooks down completely (click, click, give it the flick). I have forced a restart, as per your info. I have shut the iPad down (Powered off) and restarted it, all to no avail.


I have given up, and have optioned to remove all 12600 books, restore the device to factory, and start again. Based on my previous experience this, while it takes a long time to rebuild, is the only way to resolve issues with iOSxx.
