Q: iPod Shuffle turns on and blinks orange 3 times.

iPod Shuffle turns on and blinks orange 3 times and makes a clicking noise through the headphones. It plays music fine but buttons do not work. The only way I can change song or change the volume is through the apple headphone cord.

Sounds like the iPod shuffle may be set to "lock" its buttons. Assuming you have a 4th gen shuffle, refer to the user guide

on page 5, where it says, Lock the iPod shuffle buttons.
