I keep getting this message - "Codec not found. You may not be using a compression type without the corresponding hardware card."
Of course this is frustrating. How can I fix this? I am using Final Cut Pro Express HD on a Mac OS X 10.6.8.
FCE 4 added additional codecs.
You may need to update.

FCE 4 requires you to track down an actual DVD install disc and use that to load it onto your Mac.
Once installed you can update to FCE 4.0.1 the very last of FCExpress.
