Mac App StoreDo you think you have actually used that amount of space, if not you may want to try resetting spotlight.
In System Preferences>Spotlight>Privacy click the + button and add your HD.
Quit System Preferences. Launch System Preferences, and now remove your HD from the Privacy pane in Spotlight.
this should now start re-indexing Spotlight. This procedure sometimes helps with the display of storage in About This Mac.

Mac App StoreYou can install OmniDiskSweeper from https://www.omnigroup.com/more to scan your drive and see what is taking up the space.
