iPad stuck on "verifying update" since about 9pm last night. Help!

how did you do the update? via Cellphone or iTunes?
Neither. I opened my iPad to check email and had a message to update so I followed the links. After agreeing to terms etc it stuck.
plug it into your laptop or pc and see if it prompts you to download the IOS and then just proceed where it says Download and install and then leave your ipad connected and switched on
if your screen is frozen, hold the power and home button in while connected to your laptop, keep holding it in until you see a apple logo appear then let go, your laptop will pick it up then proceed to download update via iTunes

Thank you Mati_Mat1. Turns out I was about maxed memory wise. Attaching to my Mac not only helped me to complete the update but cleaned up my iPad after syncing etc. I had to refer to a few other community questions to get through some of it but got it. Thank you to everyone else that pitched in as well.
