Q: How do I remove photos from a project?

How do I remove unused photos from a project?

More specifically:  I have created a large (200+ images) photo book.  I accidentally added an incorrect album to the project, but I have already spent hours setting up the pages the way I want them so I can't just delete the project and start over.  I now have a hundred images that are cluttering up the project library.  In order to remove them, I tried to right click the photos and I also tried selecting and deleting the photos individually and as a group, but I always get an error message saying "unable to delete page: covers and flaps cannot be removed from books".  I don't even have a page selected-just a photo.   Grrrrrrrr, does anyone know how to remove unused photos from a project, because delete just isn't working?  Thanks!

I only get that error when I select the flap. When I select the image at the bottom, it has a blue outline. I then hit delete and it goes away.

I have exactly the same problem in Photos.

Tried your advice, but there is no delete button. All the unplaced photos are highlighted anyway, but I am not abel to delete them.

    Can someone please help?

    Thanks

The delete key in in the upper felt hand corner of your computer keyboard - it says "delete" on it

    Hi Larry,

Thanks for your reply. I thought you meant a delete button in the menu..

I did try the delete key (although on my keyboard it has an arrow on it and does not say delete ) but still the same message..

Anyway after a few more attempts I have now found my mistake: I was in the pages modus and it is apparently only possible to delete pictures when one is working on an individual page.

Thanks for your help - you saved my day!

You will get this error message, if you try to delete a photo from the flap while viewing the book in the "All Pages" view.  Then it is not possible to select an individual photo on the flap.  Double click the page to enlarge it.  Then you can delete individual photos from the page.

Does anyone know how to copy photos selected for a photobook to another new photobook?

My first memorial photobook about my mother got too big and I need to start a second book with some of the photos I chose for the first book.

Have you  tried to duplicate the book? Select it in the sidebar, then ctrl-click it and use "Duplicate book". I don't know, which version of Photos you are using, and if duplicate will work in your version.

Many thanks Leonie, that sounds like a solution, then I just need to delete the photos I've already used in the first book. I am using Photos 1.5 and can make a duplicate book. My mind isn't as logical as yours Leonie!!
