Mac Mini freezes when playing videos in Safari

Since upgrading to Mac OS X 10.11.4, my Mac Mini occasionally freezes when playing a video embedded in a webpage in Safari.

I have reinstalled Mac OS X to no avail.

Mac mini, OS X El Capitan (10.11.4)

You may have a Safari extension or third party plugin installed that was compatible with the prior OS X, but not El Capitan that's causing a conflict with video content in Safari.

If you take a look around the various threads on the support conversations ... this issue is huge and not just a Mac Mini thing
