Safari web content quit unexpectedly, then Safari quits when I open the preferences. Why?
On most webpages I get 'Safari web content quit unexpectedly', so I am trying to sort it out by opening Safari preferences and disabling any extensions I might have installed, removing website data, emptying caches etc, but within two seconds of having the preferences window open, Safari crashes.
Not only can I not load 99% of webpages regardless of content, I can't also affect my preferences for Safari to try to overcome this issue. Having looked in my 'App Store' 'Updates' tab, I can see that there was an update installed for my Safari on the 30th March, 2016 to version 9.1. It's kinda funny that this has happened because this is roughly when I started experiencing the problems I'm now having.
I don't know if this is useful info or not, but websites that I have built and uploaded to the internet are giving the same content quitting issues, but if I browse the same webpages that I've coded which are hosted on my mac, then they work fine. So, remotely hosted = no good, locally hosted = great.
Any thoughts on what's going on and how I can fix it?
I'm using:
Safari 9.1 (now)
Mac Pro Early 2008
2 x 2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel
32gb RAM
OSX 10.10.5
