EasySuite "disk image" will not delete

About a week ago a disk image appeared on my desktop called "EasySuite." Inside this image are three files: "autorun.inf," "EasySuite.exe" and "Go! Bridge." I have ejected the disk and it comes back (there is no disk in the drive, by the way). I have control-deleted it and it comes back. I have tried deleting it from the terminal and it will not let me.

For the past several hours I have been reading up on command files and how to use them to delete files. I have done "fuser" attempts and "rmdir" attempts and nothing will get rid of it. I have no idea where it came from.

Whenever I try an "rmdir" in terminal it says that the disk cannot be deleted because it is "Resource busy." I spent another couple of hours reading up on how to delete "Resource busy" files and nothing works.

I have tried to use the "kill" command in terminal and it says that the file is treated as a mount point.

I have shut off spotlight since the terminal said that spotlight was using the directory and that is why it was not deleteable. It still won't delete.

I did a search of this question and have found many others suffering from this same situation and no one has an answer for it. I just thought I would make another attempt at finding someone who can help.

.exe files are Windows executables.

There is probably some adware or some other intrusion on your Mac that is placing and re-placing this disk image.

Thanks Illass - here's the report. It did indeed find adware, and listed EasySuite as well, but it could not remove it.

Well, you must be some kind of wizard or something, Illaass! I re-booted in safe mode and the disk image was gone. I re-started in normal mode and it was back again. I restarted with all the usb devices unplugged and it was gone! But I'm afraid it will be back again when I plug them in and restart. I will let you know what happens. Stay tuned ......

A quick Google search reveals the Goggle recommended result

Easy Suite is a PC-to-PC data management software product consisting of four modules: EasyCopy-Net, EasySync, EasyMover, and EasyMacCopy. A USB 2.0 cable is also included in the product package to enable high speed data transfer.

Apr 5, 2016 2:36 PM in response to ChitlinsCC

Hi Chitlins -

I think I may be a little dense but I don't see any recommended result in your post. Everybody knows what EasySuite is, there just seems to be no way to get rid of it nor an answer as to how it got there.

I see that you emphasized "EasyMacCopy." Is it a clue? I don't have any of those programs on my computer. Like I said, I am a bit dense about these mysteries.

Apr 5, 2016 2:46 PM in response to Dennis Osborne

From the link provided by ChitlinCC:

• Fully plug and play:

‧All EasySuite software tools are stored in the Flash memory of the transfer cable that comes with the box.

‧There is no need to do any software installation, which gets rid of the hassle of carrying the installation CD.

Seems the image is coming from the transfer cable.

Apr 5, 2016 3:14 PM in response to Dennis Osborne

The issue was a cable. The problem was that I have no idea where that cable came from, which is why it was so confusing. I thought the system was exactly the same setup before the upgrade to El Capitan but I suppose in all the transferring of programs and peripherals an "Insignia" cable got caught up in the scramble and utilized where an old standard USB cable should have been and viola! A computer mystery was born. And, with thanks to Chitlins and Illaass, has now been put to rest ... PERMANENTLY!!

Which leads me to the next enigma: Where did that extra Insignia cable come from and to whom does it belong?

I'll tackle those questions in another post.

EasySuite "disk image" will not delete
