Q: disable access to iCloud music library on Apple TV 4

You would only need to sign out once to disable it, once you sign back in you would then need to enable it again in order for it to be visible.

I am not finding this to be the case.  I have signed out, seen the message that I would need to sign back into iCloud (that's good), I ignore it, and later in the day it is signed in again automatically.  It is so frustrating.

These are not purchases that I've made through itunes.  Many of these items are CDs that I've ripped.  Some are even my own music that I created through Garageband.  These tracks show up on the ATV, some grayed out and don't play, others will play.  When I chatted with Apple, they said that's "normal and expected behavior."  I have no idea how this is normal or expected.

Are you subscribed to Apple Music or iTunes Match, or at you connecting to an iTunes library on one of your computers rather than looking at your iCloud purchases/library?

I was an Itunes Match subscriber long ago and had terminated it long ago.  Many of these tracks are tracks I've ripped or added in the past 3 months, but not all of them.  It's nowhere near my entire 500gb+ collection. 

I am currently subscribed to Apple Music but I have left the "icloud" portion turned off as it continued to corrupt my entire large library and playlist.

There are two icons on the ATV.  "Computer" and "Music."  All of the above I'm discussing is when I'm in the Music app (Apple Music) and in the tab for "Library" on that app.  I can detect no rhyme or reason to what populates this Library.  One or two tracks that I purchased, many that I've ripped, some I made through Garageband and made into my own files.  I've played around with having my local computer turned on and off and I can detect no change in this Library tab on the on ATV.

My "computer" tab with my local computer works perfectly and as expected with no problems.

It will be all of your purchases and anything successfully matched or uplodaded in the period when Apple Music was scanning your library. I have a separate library for iTunes Match which includes all of my unhidden purchases and a small set of other tracks that I've chosen to add to it. This is the library I see on my Apple TV under Music.

Thanks for the note.  Is there any way for me to completely clear out these tracks?  I guess I could make a separate library with nothing in it, and then activate it?

Is it appropriate that many of these tracks are grayed out and nothing happens if I try to play them? 

This is all from the very short period when Apple Music may have tried to scan my library but I cut it off as soon as possible?

Yes. My main library is at D:\iTunes. My match library at D:\iTunes Match. Only the second one is enabled for iCloud Music Library. I shift-start-iTunes when I want to switch from one to the other.

Yes. I imagine these are tracks that were catalogued and scheduled for uploading to Apple's servers since they could not be matched. They will remain listed in iCloud Music Library until you opt to delete them.

BTW, if you don't already backup your library see Backup your iTunes for Windows library with SyncToy, just in case there are any inadvertent deletions.

Thanks for the info.  I think this should do it.

1. When you say the tracks will stay there until I opt to delete them, you mean from my local library?  I see no other way to clear the cloud.  If i have the cloud turned off (as I do now), how would it know I deleted them?

2.  When using your music, may I ask how you sync to your iphone/ipod device for music?  That is, right now I sync via cable to my local computer.  I'd love to be able to save Apple Music tracks for offline access but I'm just too concerned given how often it corrupted/duplicated my playlists (had to restore).  If I kept two libraries, is there any way I could still sync both sets of tracks/libraries?  I'm thinking not, but maybe I'm overlooking something.

1. Delete them from the iCloud Music Library, which you can only review properly once you have a library that is connected to it.
   
   
2. You would need to add everything that you want on the iDevice to the library that is enabled for Apple Music/iTunes Music Library. Once in that library you can either sync over USB or enable iCloud Music Library on the device and then stream or download on demand. You can only sync to one library at a time.
