iPhone SE Bluetooth issues

I have a new iPhone SE and have so far paired it to a 2014 BMW 328i and a 2011 Kia Optima and a 2015 Kia Santa Fe. In all cases, I have terrible quality bluetooth call reception... the audio while on a phone call is extremely scratchy and distorted.

If I pair an iPhone 6S to each of these vehicles (same iOS version - 9.3.1), I do NOT experience these issues and calls are clear.

When I use the iPhone SE to make phone calls outside of Bluetooth, I have no issues and calls are clear.

This bluetooth issue on my iPhone SE does NOT impact Bluetooth music streaming. Only sounds scratchy / distorted with phone calls.

Apple, so far, is blaming the vehicle manufacturers despite there being multiple vehicle models and brands involved.

BMW and Kia state this must be an Apple problem.

Apple Genius bar is absolutely no help -- they state they can't report "software issues" to Apple and are only able to replace bad iPhones.

I'm at a complete loss as to how to get this to Apple's attention so they can fix the issue.

For now, I don't know what to do. All I know is that Bluetooth audio is very important to me in California since it is illegal to use your phone except in a hands free manner.

Anyone know how we can get this information to someone at Apple that can actually do something about it?

Thank you for your information- very interesting, I fully understand about reticent theoretical backwards compatibility.

I quote 'And some people reported they did not have trouble with their particular car kits and headsets'

I have a Mercedes, the SE doesn't work with my vehicle or ANY Mercedes in the new car showroom. My associate has a Porsche, the SE doesn't work with that or ANY new models in the showroom, my sales team have Audis, the SE doesn't work with ANY of those 9 vehicles or any models in the showroom.

Perhaps you could tell me which vehicle manufacturer the SE actually works with and it would seem an easier route to buy the car rather than bother with this debacle !!

Compatibility is based on the vehicle? If there any users here, or anywhere, who reported that the SE worked with their vehicle out of the box please list them. I don't recall seeing any, anywhere.

Posters reported clear BT audio during phone calls prior to Beta 2 being released for the following (MR = MacRumors, TT = this thread):

2016 GMC Acadia (MR)

2015 Audi TT Mk3 (TT)

2013 Toyota RAV4 (MR)

2015 Ford Focus (MR)

2015 Ford F150 (MR)

2015 Acura SH-AWD (TT)

2013 Dodge Journey (MR)

2016 VW Tiguan (MR)

Plantronics M25 headset (TT)

Skull Candy headset (MR)

Bose headset (model unknown) (TT)

Uniden BT Cordless phone (TT)

Unnamed headset with BT 4.1 (TT)

Unnamed BT headset purchased at a Verizon store, (MR)

Sony SRX-X33 BT speaker (TT)

Finally, prior to Beta 2 being released, the poster "elzale" reported in this thread that by resetting his network settings his SE was now working fine on both his car kit and his headset, but he didn't identify the makes and models of either.

Ha! You do not need to buy another car. Very soon (perhaps as soon as tomorrow), you will be able to update your SE to work as it should with your Mercedes.

HI

I did reported my car brand on my original post.

It's a Seat Altea Freetrack 2009.

After resetting my network settings BT became ok and still is.

I have not upgraded to any beta or done anything else.

I don have nearby my BT headset to check the brand, I'm on a trip these days. But I'll do when back home.

I returned my handset, that of my business associate and six purchased for our sales team last week.

I do not intend to be a beta tester for Apple, I need a product that works out of the box.

I will wait six months, then look at the situation again- when they update the internals!

Apple have put my company to a lot of trouble, being economical with the truth over the problem and insisting one goes through ridiculous procedures that don't fix the issue.

I don't blame you. As I said, every Android phone I've ever had worked much better over BT than any iPhone I've had. I went through this with my iPhone 5 as well, and it blows.

You can add poor quality BT reception via 2014 Toyota Corolla LE. Voice quality is poor, static-filled, scratchy, but only on my end. Callers report that they can hear me fine. BT music playback is fine. Reached Apple Support (Canada), but the wait time to speak with a human being is being measured in light years.

After scrolling through 40 pages, I think the solution will be coming out in the next release of the iOS.

Could anyone tell me how I can become one of the special people who can test beta releases?

There must be something else behind this issue because if you are saying no Porsche or Audi would work (including those in the showroom - so assuming 2016 models) then that is contrary to my experience because my SE has and still is working fine paired to my 2015 TT MMI system.

The only slight problem was the other day had to force the pairing (never had to do that with the 4s before), think it was due to the fact previously been streaming podcasts through the home hifi and maybe it was still looking for that pairing instead of the TT's.

Anyhow, maybe I've just been lucky.

You might want to wait til tomorrow night, though, just in case the final version is released tomorrow.

I check bluetooth on my two owned car Mazda 6 2015 and Camry 2011 the voice not clear at beginning when ringing after that I try to delete device from both car and reconnect bluetooth it's better but still there is noise!!

I think there is bug in iOS 9.3.1 because I tested and I face so many issue.

Also I'm using clear sound device it's special device for Cochlear Implants the voice not that much clear even the receiver my call told me there is noise, I revoked it and connect my special device to iPhone 6 Plus also iPhone 5s there is no noises voice so clear.

So anyone from Apple tell us from where the problem with iPhone SE BT!!
